{ Tuesday, March 21st }

Today me and 7 other people from the dream team had the wonderful opportunity to go and help out in making dressers for a family. We partnered with a family who truly love their kids but can't afford simple household items for their home. Having dressers shows that the family is capable and suitable to upkeep their home. I didn't realize that by doing something so minimal, would make an impact in someone's life and meant something big to them. By seeing the expressions on their faces and appreciation, I felt so much humility and love. Later on in the day, the whole travel team and I went to skid row. Walking down the first couple of blocks, I suddenly started feeling extremely overwhelmed and I just wanted to leave. But after seeing others go up to random people on the street, I finally got a little bit more comfortable and got the courage to talk to a newfound friend, Tyson. Tyson is a man who carried this humongous bright smile on his face and kept a great conversation going with me. He shared his story on how he got to skid row and even shared his gift of singing with us. It was amazing to be able to converse with someone who has gone through more than I can imagine but still had this contagious positive spirit. Overall, today's experience exceeded all of my expectations and it's only the first day of serving. I'm excited to see what God has in store and what else he'll reveal to me in the next 5 days.
P.s now I can check "learn how to build a drawer" off my bucket list (;
